Default Toyota RAV4 1997 4x4 5 speed manual trans (NW) $4500

I am selling my black 1997 Toyota RAV4 "L" model. It has a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder engine, 5 speed manual transmission and it is in very good condition. It is my current daily driver/commuter car. It can legally seat 5 with some spare room in the back for bags and stuff.

I am not a mechanic but I know a decent amount about cars that I know what to look for and how to take proper care of my cars. I am only selling it because I want to get a newer car with an automatic transmission LOL.

It has a clean Nevada title in my name. Registration is current. It passed SMOG easily the last time I had it done. There is nothing wrong with it other than it just being being 14 years old. It has a few small dings and scratches and fading and the interior has some stains but nothing major inside or outside.

It only has 117,000 original miles on it which is low for a 97. The engine runs reliably with no oil leaks. Old cars often develop oil leaks because the seals dry up here in the desert. This car has held up very well so far. Every old car will have some oil seep out of certain seals over time (timing chain cover, oil pump etc etc) which this car is no exception but it doesnt have leaks that I need to fix. I dont have big oil spot on my driveway is what I basically mean.

The transmission shifts easily with no grinding. Its the full time AWD edition so basically its a 4x4. It has a locking center differential option which is nice for off roading. The center diff lock is a button on the dash and it works perfectly. Not many AWD cars have this option. I just took it out into the desert near my house (May 14th 2011) with no issues.

The clutch works great with no slipping.

The a/c blows cold and "does not" need recharging like most other old cars for sale claim to need. The ice cold a/c is one of the reasons why I am asking $4500. a/c is like Gold in Las Vegas, especially with summer coming.

The engine's cooling system works great. It doesnt over heat which is another big selling point for old cars in Las Vegas. The temp gauge needle hovers around just a hair below the middle of the gauge.

The windshield and the rest of the glass is in great condition with no cracks in any of the windows. (no tint)

The interior is gray in color and in decent shape with no cracks in the dash, no tears in the seats, and no sagging head liner. Its old and stained and used but not too bad in my opinion.

The electrical system all works fine. Blinkers, breaks, head lights, wipers, etc etc. all work. The battery is good and the alternator is good. It doesnt have a factory volt gauge but I have not had any issues with the alternator and battery since I have owned it. Las Vegas heat eats up alternators and batteries every summer if you dont already know?

It has 16" aluminum wheels with new-ish 215/70/16 tires.

I have installed/maintained...

New spark plugs (NGK)
New air filter
New front axles. The old ones had torn boots on both sides. (it has rear drum breaks that work fine so I never touched them)
New front rotors. The old ones were warped and were pulsating when I pushed the breaks.
New break pads. Might as well put new pads if you put new rotors.
Changed the engine oil. (new oil filter obviously)
Changed the transmission oil.
Changed the transffer case oil. (a must for 4x4's)
Changed the front and rear differential oil. (also a must for 4x4's)
Flushed the radiator and added new coolant.
Filled up the break fluid.
Filled up the power steering fluid.
Filled up the wiper fluid.
Added floor mats.
Put on new tires. (which were obviously balanced)

As you can see I am not afraid to spend money on my car. I believe if you take car of it...it will take care of you.

It also comes with a Pioneer CD player with 6 factory speakers and the factory tool kit and jack stand and a full sized spare tire on the back.

Any car that has working a/c, does not over heat, and everything works electronically and mechanically, with no check engine lights on...automatically is worth an easy $4,500 in my opinion. Why? Because you dont have to spend any extra money to fix anything once you get it home. You just get in and drive...hopefully for a few years other than an oil change and break pad change?) Plus I just checked KBB on a 97 RAV4 with 117,000 miles with the features mine has "L" model and a private party value is $5,200. So $4,500 seems like a very good deal to me.

If you have $4,500 cash...and you are interested in owning a nice little 4x4, SUV that is good on gas...please feel free to give me a call. I am in no rush to sell this car so dont bother with low offers. I drive it every day 5 days a week so I am fully confident that you are getting a decent AWD reliable car. Like I said, I am just looking to get something similar but with an automatic transmission because I am old and lazy and I dont want to shift gears manually anymore lol.

Thanks for looking.
