Default Runaway Toyota had to be shot to be stopped!

More precisely a Lexus that had just been stolen and was driven onto a
military base at high speed:

OK, but it doesn't disprove that Toyotas can accelerate out of
control.

The owner had bought it used off Craig's list and had put only five
miles on it before discovering it missing.

I haven't been there in about a year, but apparently the thieves
entered the base at the SE gate, at the residential area, and took the
road that goes 1/8 mile north and then 1/4 mile west to the main base,
where they were shot on the overramp. I have no idea why they entered
the base because they could have stayed on the public road that runs
right next to the base and reached the same destination -- without
being shot -- and maybe have gotten away.
