Default Is there a shortage of Lexus CT 200h's?

I've been following the Lexus CT 200h ever since it came out, when I checked around at local Lexus dealers to test drive one, there was only one available out of 4 dealers across the state. This seems to be happening at other Lexus dealers too.. Is it because of the earthquake?

Probably so. The CT is made at the Toyota Miyawaka facility, which isn't expected to ramp up to normal production levels until the end of the summer.

Yes, production is down because of the Earthquake in Japan. However, production should be back to 100% within the next month or two.

Because dealers only stock popular cars.

since lexus are short why not buy the ford fusion hybrid, much more sporty than a boring lexus with a matrix chassis

Yup. Shortage is due to a combo of three things:

1. Earthquake slowing production

2. High gas prices making all hybrids or high MPG cars very popular

3. Fact that this is a brand new model

If it wasn't really popular (#2 and #3), the fact that production was slowed wouldn't matter. Even if production hadn't been slowed, they probably would still be in short supply.
