It could be a hundred things, but you don't want to buy a hundred things to fix only one. Get an OBD2 check done to narrow down what really is faulty. Car part stores do that check for free, but they cannot do more than tell you what the trouble code means unless they are certified auto technicians.
Change the light. That is easy to do. If you haven't had the oil changed in years ( letting the filter clog up), that also means you don't maintain your car and it could have a thousand problems. If you are lucky enough to just guess the right problem, you should also buy a lotto ticket and win millions.
Let a professional fix your car if you can't.
