usually a 5/8 deep well socket.Might be different with your car. but only do one at a time, if you cross the spark plugs wires with other plugs, you can severely damage the motor.

The 3 in front bank are easy, the rear by the firewall are a pain, but still can be done without remove intake plenum if correct length of extension and spark plug socket are used.

Remove the coils and use a 6 point spark plug socket and an extension and a cheater bar to remove the plugs. To install, make sure you have the correct plugs and start the plugs by hand. Just turn with a slight force. If it does not turn or hard to turn back it out and start again until it turns freely. Turn with your hand until snug and then tighten with a ratchet until snug. Get the manual and torque to specs.

I really do not know how you would change the spark plugs on this Lexus ES not "es" as these models designators are typically capitalized by the manufacturer. Please do so. Why are you interested in the spark plugs? Spark plugs are basically bullet proof electrical contacts that outlast many components of the electrical systems installed. IF you are having issues with this Lexus ES do not guess and go to a certified and experienced mechanic. Even the simple task of removing and replacing spark plugs is riddled with potential dangers as to damage. IF you damage the tread on any cylinder that is a much more expensive repair that what you can imagine. Find a mechanic and tell this person what you have. Allow him or her to repair the vehicle properly.
