It got high mileages, but tell me what you think. Should I buy this or not? It got carfax in this.

I'm just want to be sure nothing will happen such as motor or transmission gone bad in next few thousand miles.

I would leave that suv sitting there look for a vehicle with lower miles and that is less expensive too repair if things go wrong. 240, 000 on a lexus is pushing its limits. If it was a Jeep/Mercedes with a well documented service history/a Bmw /chevorlet then I would say go for it even an infiniti . If you are looking for a truly reliable luxury vehicle in an suv look at Jeep grand Cherokee or mercedes .

Have your mechanic take a look. Older lexuses are a hit or miss. If it was well maintained then you could get another 150,000 miles out of it. If it wasn't maintained right, 2000 miles and your done.

A mechanic has the tools to check if the SUV has any issues.

This is a tough one. If you have money set aside for repairs, maybe. Bear in mind:

-horrible mpg

-old school 6 cylinder that is not made any more and hard to get parts for

-Lexus labor rates

Unless this is something you leave at the country house and only use occasionally, I would stay away. It will likely run a long time still, but will hit you up for $1000 repairs and is frankly an impractical every day car.
