Those big boy Lexus's were pretty neat. Had a '95 GS 300 that I enjoyed. Tough call. In general seems like way too much. Sometimes not driving a car, looking at the low mileage, is worse then driving it. Original owner? Always garaged? What section of the country? Service records? Even if all that pans out just seems too much. Have 4K burning a hole in your pocket? Really want it? If so just be prepared for the worst. Oh and gas mileage will be so so at best.

Condition, condition, condition. Model year and mileage doesn't give enough information to appraise a cars value. If the paint is faded or it needs tires the value could drop by several thousand dollars. Every stain in the interior or ding on a door could lower the value hundreds more. In near showroom condition it would be worth $4,000.

Service records are important here. Certain services are required at certain miles, but you have to factor in the years. Timing belt if orig is 20+ old. Seals are 20+ years old. Mileage aside, this is a 20+ yr old car. $4000 seems like a lot for a car that could have a $1000+ repair at any time. If timing belt changed twice, and yes two times and there are records of preventative maintenance, then may be worth at $3000.
