Default Would you recommend a Lexus IS200 as a first car?

After numerous times of checking on comparethemarket.com with many different makes and models of cars, this has by far the best performance and nicest aesthetics for the quoted price (5993P/A)

It is in a higher tax band than the others due to its emissions (Tax band K) but it looks great.

In actual fact - my dad has one, but I want one as my first car. I will probably keep it for a couple of years before purchasing another one.

I am visualising it in a deep purple and being lowered slightly with a nice exhaust system, not to mention tinted windows and audio system.

I don't want people telling me that other cars are better. Look at the question and answer it. Don't answer with something I haven't asked for,

Thanks,

Ryan.

Lexus is very good. Safe, Easy to drive, pretty reliable if you maintain it, cheap insurance. Go for it.

Yes, in all honesty I would recommend it as a first car. Very reliable and easy to maintain. If a part needs replacing it can be expensive however, luckily it uses some parts as other Toyota's so depending on what needs fixing it can be cheap or expensive. The IS200 in particular however, tends to show high reliability and good build quality. Also, one other thing you have to look at is that it's most likely that this car requires premium high quality gas. If you don't mind pay $2-$6 more a tank on fill up (depending on where you live) this car will last you a long while. All in all, yes I'd recommend this car as a first car.

Visualise all you like but no one will insure a new driver on a chaved up Toyota in the UK. Not sure why the yanks get confused with the sign as we are the only ones that use it.
