Default 2002 Lexus ES300 with 220,000 miles - how long will it ( the engine and transmission ) last?

I just bought a 2002 Lexus ES300 with 220,000 miles.

How many miles do you think the engine/transmission will last if well maintained?

I know Toyota/Lexus engines are said to be great and someone told me it can last up to 400,000 miles, do you agree with this though?

Thanks

Hi Nick. A well maintained ES300 engine and transmission should go at least 400,000 miles. Oil changes every 3000 miles and transmission fluid changes every 20 to 30,000 miles will help that car last. Yes, in the manual Lexus calls for 5000 mile oil change intervals. Because those motors are prone to sludge problems (try to Google "Lexus Engine Sludge") a shorter interval is best.
