Hi, so I'm considering buying a 2007 Lexus IS 350, but it has 151K miles on it. Will it be a reliable car for more than 5 years. It will just be used for getting around. Or will it mess up on me in a year or two.

How long it lasts depends on the car, but I wouldn't buy a car with that many miles on it unless it was less than $1,000, maybe $1,500 tops, and was looked over by a mechanic.

IF (and that's a BIG "if") the car was properly maintained and well cared for in the past, there's no reason why it shouldn't last several more years with the same kind of care and maintenance, but ANY used car is a gamble... It could be trouble free for the next 5 years, or it could blow up in your driveway tomorrow morning.

If you're serious about this car, take it to a competent independent mechanic and have it inspected. If your mechanic gives it a clean bill of health, then so much the better.

Good Luck!

NO. It's a 7 year old toyota that's near the end of its life. Even if you're only driving 10k miles per year, it won't make it 5 years without significant repairs.
