Default My Lexus LX 470's navigation ECU isn't reading the disc?

Our 2001 Lexus LX 470 that we recently bought used has a built in navigation system, but it says "No Disc Detected". We asked the seller about it, they said that there wasn't a disc so we would have to purchase a new one for maybe 40 bucks. We opened up the case under the passenger seat after purchasing a disc off of the internet, and found the original disc in there (The blue 2.0 one). We put the new disc in, started up the car, etc etc and it still says "No Disc Detected". We've tried the discs multiple times, blah blah blah, and it still doesn't work. I've looked online and it says the laser is weak on my ECU, but really I have no idea. The dealerships i've been too recommended another disc, or to replace the ECU entirely for over $3,500. What's wrong with it?
