Default 2013 Scion fr-s manual throttle lag at idle?

I just got my fr-s yesterday and I am not a modern car person(next newest is 1995) so i am not exactly sure how these modern cars work.

When the car is idleing there is about a half second delay on the throttle but when driving its almost instantly responsive. I'm thinking that since its a manual its kicking in more sensors so the car dont stall but I would like to know if its normal.

Thanks for any help

My guess would probably be that gas is cut to save fuel.
