Buy both and drive each one on odd days and the other on even days of the month.

I recently rented a Nissan Cube for a trip up the mountains. With the small engine and the less than stellar EPA ratings, the car did very well on gas and up the hills. I hated these cars before I rented one. Know I would consider owning one. It was very practical, easy to drive, and it was a head turner.

Everytime I saw it in the parking lot, I started to think that it was cool.

I am still not a fan of the Scion xB since it is based on the boring Toyota Corolla. It does not handle or feel like the sportier Nissan Cube.

Forget about the MPG, buying a car just because it saves money on gas while it is new; can cost you lots of $$ in the future.

I will go with Scion xB ... take a look at both engines. For example, just to replace the spark plugs on the Nissan Cube you have to take the intake manifold off, and that means more labor hours which = more money. At the end is going to be your decision. Good Luck!
