Default 95 Front Rotors UPDATE.

Hi,

I just checked with my local Toyota dealer.

New Toyota rotor are GB£132.96 including taxes that's circa US$240.

Same rotors fitted by them is GB£209.00 circa US$377

They don't offer a regrinding service as there labour costs does not make
this
an economical deal against just replacing them.

Thats a bit like I thought anyway.

New front disc pads are GB£41.00 = US$77.

I wonder how this compares with the US prices.

I got a pair for about 70US and paid 20$ to a friend to put them on,
Dealers charge as much as doctors, shop around. But you do get free
coffee and dougnuts at the dealer. I cant understand why anyone uses a
dealer for things like brakes.

Hi Again,

Yes I agree with you regarding the Main Dealers.
I do use a local garage on the occasions it suits me.

I will fit these myself but it was handy to get a starting
point on costs.

At least I have a point to work from now.

Tks

Have good tools calipers can be hard to remove. Just buy a name brand

======
I discovered long ago, somewhat by accident that you can always ask
for a lower price -- and it often works.
Just honestly implore upon their kindness and ask whether they can do
any better on the price. In March of 2006 I paid $70.13 ea. for front
brake disc rotors as part of a larger order.

$240 USD for a rotor is ridiculous. Maybe Toyotas aren't as popular in
UK or parts in UK costs an arm and a leg.

The excellent Brembo rotors are about $50USD each, and Raybestos
professional grade is about $20USD. www.buypartsby.co.uk can get name
brand EBC rotors for about £36. So check around.

What am I missing here - OK so you are British - and you are in England -
but the here in the US at Rockauto (www.rockauto.com) the rotors are $65 or
less for the off brand each. They look like you remove the wheel, undo the
caliper & catch the rotor as it falls off - why $250?

The UK is also known as Treasure Island.
Gas is now US$10 per 4.5 ltr gallon.

The $250 was for a pair by the way.

The cheapest I have found in the UK up to now is US$172 including
post/taxes.

That's a D739 by some company.
