Default Brake problem

I just recently bought a 2003 Camry "as is" from a Toyota dealer, and they
told me they "did the brakes" on the car. However, a few days later, the
brakes are squeaking faintly but noticeably. Is this normal or should I
have them
re-checked?

disk brakes are made to squeek when they need changing..but sometimes the
squeek when they don't-I would have them checked.

Any brake shop will look for free thinking you need brakes, if they
were done you will see the rotors are ground and pads thick, i never
heard of "adjusting" new disk brakes, the thing is for you to find
out, and learn, instead if trusting a car dealer. Once a guy said he
changed my oil, I checked it and said he didnt, he said " take your
money and dont come back" I didnt ask for the money but I took it and
never went back. Once i was at Midas for a brake flush, they didnt
know I was looking, they only flushed one wheel. I got the job free.
Sears just screwed me on a battery and oil, I wrote the DA and didnt
have to pay, they are all crooks. You brakes are likely not new or
rotors not turned

All of the above are reasons I invested in a good floor jack, jackstands,
assorted tools and a manual to be able to do this sort of work myself
whenever possible (thanks, Dad). My guess is there is a good chance they
slapped on the cheapest set of pads they had and didn't spend much time
making sure they had proper anti-squeal pads or compound when installed.
Most parts supply stores carry the anti-squeal compound for about 5 bucks or
less.

Usually that's not a problem, especially if a shop just did the
brakes.

The only problem I think would be the "as is" purchase of a used car.
You start the engine and suddenly the dealer doesn't recognize you
anymore.

If they told him they are new he has grounds to stand on, but I bet
its not in writing, or maybe he is lucky and it is. I guess it depends
on the dealer and now many are loosing money.

Yes, I am not asking if I should get the dealer to "re-do" the brakes, since
they didn't give me a warranty on the work previously done before the sale.

But, I am considering taking the car to an independent brake shop and having
them checked. I just didn't know if a mild squeak was normal or not in this
instance.

Some pads squeak, and it depends on the type of squeak, a pro will
help when he hears it.

If the brakes squeal lightly first of day parked next to the lawn
sprinklers, then it may be OK. If all the time then something may be
getting old and not sliding properly.

Even cheap $20 Raybestos rotors and the excellent Akebono brake pads
should be silent. In fact, I didn't even need to use the stick-on
noise shims. The reason is that the glue gets messy when I clean the
pads and check the parts. And I do that every year or two.
