Default emission filter

I see in the inspection book for my 98 camry to inspect the emission
filter... is that a filter? when I call the parts stores they say there are
only the air filter and fuel filter listed for my camry.
what is the emission filter.

Could it be the carbon canister filter? Nobody "inspects" or
"replaces" it anymore.

Inspect means check hoses, I dont think they get replaced unless
rusted.

It's probably a dealer only item, if they even stock it. If it's like
the EGR modulator filter, then you basically have to get the whole EGR
modulator assembly. Unless you want to cut your own filter to fit (and
risk contamination from improper fit).

Cars aren't really meant to last much longer than the powertrain
warranty, or actually more like 4 years because that's when you start
getting those letters trying to get you into a newer car.

You can always ignore those letters...

Our '96 Camry is still alive and kicking at 158,600 miles.

Maybe it's a California thing. I hear that where there's snow, the
body and brake lines rust out really fast (from salting the roads)?
