Default Ticking noise from passenger side dash 98 Camry XLE

I have a 98 Camry XLE with 37K miles. It has developed a stange fast
clicking noise coming from behind the glove box. At first I thought it was
something vibrating in the glove box but the frequency of the ticking never
changes and continues even after the engine has been turned off. I'm
thinking it may be a relay assoicated with the alarm system because it has
gone off several times while in a locked garage. The chack engine came on
several days ago so I'm not sure if it's associated with the ticking noise.

Anyone have any idea what it can be? Is it something an owner can fix?

Thanks's in advamvce for any insight.

Tom

You can go to most autoparts stores (AutoZone, etc) and they will run a
diagnosis for free and tell you what the check engine light is indicating.
It helps if you go when they are not swamped with other customers.

At that point you will have a better idea what the problem is. It seems
likely (but no guarantee) that the check engine light is related to the
noise.

I had the Oxygen sensor replaced to clear the check engine light.

The ticking sound, although intermittent still continues.
