Default Check Engine Indicator

Hi All,
I have a 2005 V6 SE with just over 60,000 miles...all routine service up
to date.
Tonight, the "Check Engine" indicator stayed on. My first thought, as I
had a fill-up last night, was to check the gas cap...which was secure.
We did have a freeze and snow here in NJ today, and the car was parked
outdoors all day, and I did rock the car out of an icy parking spot
befor I noticed the indicator. I do not believe it was on this morning
after pulling out of the garage.
When getting on the highway tonight and accelerating, I notice a
chugging or roughness from the engine...almost felt like a tire out of
balance at high speed.
Any idea or comments would be appreciated, before I head to Toyoya
tomorrow.
Thanks much.

Hopefully your car is still under warranty. What the will do is put an
OBD reader on the car and it will give a code as to where the
malfunction is. It's a pricey thing to have done at Toyota if it's
beyond warranty.

You can get a free reading at many auto part specialty stores. That
may not repair the problem but at least you will have an idea just
what has gone wrong

Good Luck

PS I drive around all day long with my check engine light on as I know
the problem and it is not critical.
