Bet he didn't. We've seen a dozen of the same sort of idea come and go
through here the last couple of weeks. He's just warning any newbies that
meay not have come across this before (believe me, there are lots of
those).

Not at all, I NEVER open anything. Was just looking out for everyone
else. I installed Norton after 8 years on the net and I have never
picked up any virus. Easy, never open an attachment. Virus's are for
newbies to this buisness. I only know its a virus becaseu I'm aware of
the name of the "scr"

He didn't. I know this guy.

And just FYI, MDT Tech, there are viruses that do not require an
attachment. Having a firewall prevents most of those.

....and having anything but Windows prevents nearly all of them as well...

I recently received an email purporting to be from Microsoft. Had all kinds
of graphics and colors which made it look real. Even had the Microsoft logos
and icons down to a "T". Email said to upgrade the security of my system to
install the attachment which was an executable. I contacted MS, sent them
the header info and the text of the message and they confirmed it is a virus
that damages a person's computer and spreads through the address book when
opened. I use PC-cillin antivirus and keep it updated but, still glad I
didn't open it. Some of that stuff can be lethal to a PC.
Hope this helps,

One reason why I keep my Address Book empty. I'll be damned if anyone
catches a virus from me.

I'm not positive it works but, I read if you make the first entry in you
address book all "1" or a combination of "0" & "1" it will be an invalid
address. This will cause Outlook Express to belch on the send as the first
address is invalid. I have my address book set up this way and so far no-one
had gotten a virus from me that I know of.
