Default Noise when starting at an incline

1999 Camry LE V6 Auto Trans

Oflate I have noticed that if I am starting from rest at an incline
the car makes a weird gutteral sound (almost like a truck) which goes
away after a few seconds. The acceleration and gear shifting doesnt
seem to be affected but the noise is bothering me. Is that a warning
for something breaking? I am not sure where the noise is coming from -
transmission/driveaxle????

Any ideas?

Thanks
Karthik

Check the oil level in the car. Also make sure you are using good brand oil
filters with a backflow valve.

Use Toyota filters or the expensive brand filters.

Its an automatic? I dont want to be a bringer of bad-tidings,..but it maybe
the transmission slipping for an instant when you press the throttle to
climb the incline.

If you think it maybe this,...do the basic things like check ATF level on
the dipstick and perhaps get an assessment by a reputable trans specialist.

Check the condition of the transmission fluid.
Clear and red - or darkened, burned?
If the transmission fluid condition has been neglected, you would need
to drain it several times to remove it all, or pay for the machine to
exchange all the fluid.
You might also want to remove the pan, and check for metal filings
from wear, on the magnets, and clean the inside of the pan.
=======================
-from the conventional to the less accepted:
If the noise remains, add a bottle of Lucas transmission fix, but this
may not be necessary after cleaning the fluid.
I like it as preventative maintenance to quiet the transmission
safely, but you're fee to decide for yourself.

How often does Trans Oil needs to be changed?
