Default 02 Camry Tick noise when turning the wheel

Hi, recently my 02 Camry(4 cyl) is making a tick noise at turning: if
the turn signal
is on, I can hear between 1 to 3 "ta" sound (depend on how big the turn
is)from the
steering column. If the signal is not on, no such sound when turn.
Dealer said it's normal and
that's the mechanism to automaticly shut off the signal. The thing is,
I don't think
the noise was there before. A friend's Corrola doesn't do this, while a
01 camry is
doing the same. Is your 02--05 Camry act like this? Shoulds to me a
part needs
to be lubricated? Thanks for any suggestion.

BTW, the quality of the new model of Camry is terrible. My car is made
in JP,
less than 2 years old(40K km). Already has fuel guage sending unit
changed;
drive belt replaced(squeaking); driver seat rack replaced; No air blown
to the
floor(fixed); Leaking coolant at the top side of engine(to be fixed);
power
steering box(don't know its name; it's where the steering column and the
power
steering fluid pipe join, under the hood) leaking. And of course, that's
famous
rattle noise from behind the dash board which the dealer always said
they can't
reproduce but I hear it every day.

Takes a long while to work out the kinks
in the new generation camrys. It took 3
years for them to come out with a real
fix for my front shock noise that the
dealer never could hear on my 97.

That's the ONE thing on my new 04 that doesn't rattle. I'm to the point of
just spraying tons of silicone spray anywhere I hear a rattle and shop for
different new car.

Check out a Chrysler 300C or Dodge Magnum. I have a 300M with 40k miles on
it. No rattles.

The turn indicator is tripped off once the steering wheel starts to
straighten up again. This mechanism which can be likened to a small cam or
bump on the steering column, can make a noise as the wheel is turned *into*
the corner.

Basically there is a small spring-metal arm which can make a ticking type
sound as it runs over the trip or cancelling bump in the opposite direction
than the 'straightening' the cars direction again. It is not a real problem.

If that's an indication of other post-2000 Camrys as well, then the image
which has contributed to the popularity of the car (and its resale value)
will suffer.
