Default ’92 Camry....turn key, get nothing....!

My husband just purchased a brand new battery and some fuse thingy
that attaches to the battery about a month ago. I went to start the
car yesterday morning, turned the key and got nothing! When I turned
the ignition switch off to get out of the car, it was making a
clicking sound! Weird, huh? I checked under the hood to see if I
could hear it from there, which I could, but couldn’t figure out what
was causing it. Anyone have any ideas? Lights don’t come on, but
when the door is opened the ignition bell rings. Go figure!

"Thingy"s are not allowed on Toyota vehicles.
:-)

I would suspect a loose or corroded battery cable post and/or terminal.
Remove, clean and re-attach both battery cables and check the connections on
that "thingy" he changed.

Here is a very simple test. Turn on the head light switch ( and key if
necessary). While observing the lights to see if they come on (or get
brighter) dig a screwdriver (or other metal object) in between the
battery clamp and the battery post, in order to bridge the junction. If
you see a change you found a bad connection. If there is no change try
the other terminal. Once you have identified the problem you can use
this method to get the car started in a pinch if you have a helper to
turn the key. Later, remove and wire brush the clamps and posts.

Either a bad battery connection, or the battery is discharged. Battery
discharge could be caused by a bad alternator.

I had the same problem. The Toyota dealer replaced the alternator for
$500. BUT the problem persisted. In the end I found a broken wire on
the LoJack valet switch. Thus, the LoJack was asserting the "Engine
Kill" feature. I cut the wire to horn and was not aware that the
LoJack was being triggered.
