Default Which one to buy....5K budget?

I am looking to buy a family car soon, budget is around $5000. So
maybe it has to be mid-nineties. Have always heard Camry sedans are
top-notch quality. Would prefer a wagon version. What models to avoid?
What is best in the nineties models, that might be within my budget?

Unfortunately, the Camry wagon wasn't very popular and Toyota quit
making them in the mid-90's. Today, they are rare and are in high
demand. Consider a 1994 - 1996 XLE either in the V4 or the V6. That
was a great car, and 1996 was the last year before the redesign that
(IMHO) cheapened the Camry. Or if you need more space, check out the
Avalon of the same vintage.

Camry wagons? Heh, I haven't seen one of those in a long time.

Camry's in general are fine and plentiful, but, as with any car, it all
depends on owner maintenance. Accords are good too, but smaller than
Camry's.

If your budget is 5k, look for something around 4k. There's usually
something you need or want to do to any used car when you purchase it.

Look in the paper to see what falls into your range. Should be plenty
of Camry's and Accords in the 1994-96 range.

Out in California there are lots of '94 Camry Wagons around. You see them
all the time. Rarely for sale though.

There looks to be a good one on e-bay right now...

Very low mileage....too low to believe, actually. I don't live anywhere
near there, or I'd go and take it for a drive. I have a '93 V6 SE sedan,
and I've always wished I'd bought the wagon instead.

They're good cars, but of course maintenance and just the general history
of the car is so important. Mine has never been hurt...no accidents, never
run hot or low on oil, etc. There's no telling what has happened to any
used car; much less one that's that old.

It will be interesting to see what the dealer ends up getting for that
car...no bids yet, and he doesn't say what the reserve is.

Good luck, Chuck
