Default loss of power when raining

My 2000 Camry loses power in heavy rain. When it looses power, there
is a severe vibration undrneath the driverís seat (or at least it
feels like itís coming from there), and the car sounds like a
motorboat. Took it to Toyota and they couldnít find anything wrong.
Replaced the plugs and wires, and no results
Any ideas what this can be?
Thanks for the help

At night open the hood, take a spray bottle of water out, start engine
and try spritzing the motor around the plug wires etc. If there is an
intermittent short it might arc and show you where it is.

I have a '97 and I sometimes feel the same vibration when I drive through
heavy rain or puddles. I haven't noticed a decrease in power though, it's
usually a very low speeds. I thought that maybe the water was getting
trapped around the catalytic converter and the vibration was caused by it
boiling or something.

A possibility is a leaking connector on one of the sensors. You could
disconnect each one, seal with dielectric grease and reconnect. While you're
at it I suggest looking for a cut or pinched wire where water could cause a
short.

in heavy rain . . . the car sounds like a
motorboat
-----------------
All one can do is guess without having more hands on input - so here's
my guess:
You drive through deep water in heavy rain, water seeps into a low
lying part of the exhaust filling it partially with water and causing
the vibration under your seat and motorboat noise.
Hey, it's only a guess.

it could be spark plug wires.
