I don't remember exactly, but they were different. I just used the
glass and adapted it to a US housing and actuator (it required some
slight modification that cannot be seen). The primary differences
were that the motor drive assembly was different. The japanese
version used a screw type mechanism to move the mirror and the US
version used a rack and pinion mechanism to move the mirror (the
Japanese version was better IMO. The wiring connectors were different
also if I remember correctly. I don't remember anything about the
housing because I cut the Japanese one up to remove the mirror (they
have snap fits and are hard to remove without exposing the backside of
the glass). I got the mirror for $5 because the housing was cracked
and had a stud broken off. The glass has been attached for the last 3
years now with the help of some JB weld. We've had 0 degree winters
and 100 degree summers in the midwest. I am thinking that the
housings had a slightly different shape - the japanes more rounded,
while the US version had sharper radii. My guess is that they are the
same mounting configurate to the body, because I believe that the
bodies and frame are very similar, but the accessories were the major
difference (I might be wrong though). So if you don't mind cutting
the wire and reattaching to the appropriate lead, then you might
consider if you are saving some cash.
