Default How To Clean Windshield Deposits?

Can anyone tell me how to clean hard water and other deposits from my
windshield? The deposits interfere with visibility at night when wet. Wipers
don't help. My local Toyota dealer suggested using windex and newspapers.
(apparently, the ink acts as a solvent) I've had very limited success with
this.

For overall junk on glass Zud is like comet but has I believe a mild
acid also in it. I used it on my 54 buick and it took of all the years
embedded junk. Zud is for glass as its label states, unlike comet or
other kitchen cleansers.

Try the "Stoner" brand car glass cleaner. Used to be available in auto
speciality stores at a very high price.

But lately I've seen it in mass market retailers for a very reasonable
price. An excellent product developed by some researcher named Stoner.

just a web link that shows the true name of the product, might make it
easier for you to find the Stoner product if you are at all interested.
But around here, my local grocery store has it in the auto section.

Thanks much for both of your great, not to mention speedy responses. Think
I'll be stopping by Wal-Mart in the morning and will check it out.

I've had stuff drip on my windshield from the concrete in an
underground garage which wouldn't come off with water so I just used
household vinegar. It worked well although it took a couple of minutes
to dissolve the crud.

Bon Ami a non abrasive cleaner worked for me.
But it involves a lot of rinsing to get it all off.

My mother uses "Bar Keepers Friend" to clean the challace and other
metal work at church. It does not scratch the finish.
