Default Dealer Invoice ??

I may be interested in buying a new 07 Camry. Would like to know where I can
find the "dealer invoice price", so I can have a starting point, for the
negotiations.
Thanks in advance
Barry/Austin

After you find the dealer invoice, remember that dealers get holdback (sort
of like a mail-in-rebate) of about 2% (depends on the manufacturer and how
many cars the dealer buys), so the invoice is not what the dealer actually
pays. However, don't expect to get a car below invoice very often on a
popular Toyota model.

The places where you find the invoice price will probably tell you the exact
holdback for Toyota.

If you are looking at their hybrid Camry, I would not be surprised if the
dealer tacks on another $3000 over MSRP figuring it will be a hot seller and
he can get more for it. Same scheme with the Prius <damhik! - and you won't
get one under MSRP>

Last December, our Toyota dealer had 20 Prius's looking for buyers. My wife
bought a Accord hybrid instead. Too bad. She could have sold the Prius at
a nice profit now.

I have nothing against doing our part for the environment and stuff...,
however are these hybrids really worth the extra buck when you consider
the cost to change hose batteries 5 years down the line! Or just sell
them for a profit to some unsuspecting person before that occurs?

Batteries are guaranteed 8 years and since they are modular you would never
have to replace whole pack.

Well, the change interval is closer to 10 years, but, yeah, the payback isn't
there yet. Think of it as paying to help the automakers debug their new
technology :-) . That said, I hope they get the bugs out soon -- I want an
offroad-capable hybrid SUV (not that stupid Highland toy) -- love the torque
curves of those electric motors!
