Default Pre-trip check and maintenance

Have a 2002 Camry 4cyl pretty fully equipped.
Planning a cross country trip including hot desert, cold mountain tops, and
everything in between.
A few legs of trip will probably be around 10+ hours actual driving time in
a day.

What is the proper procedure for pre-trip check-up and preventative
maintenance?

What parts, supplies, and tools would you "never leave home without"?!

TIA,
Bob in Los Angeles

Do all the routine maintenance that's due or over-due or that will
become due during the trip.

Cell phone, AMA Motow card (like AAA only it covers motorcycles and
cars), and Mastercard with a high credit limit.
