Default 92 Camry tranny

>From reading online I am sure I have a soleniod problem with my tranny.
How hard are these to remove or replace? My problem is that it skips
1st gear. If I manually shift it to low it drops back to 1st and then I
can shift it back up after I am underway. So it's only when i am in "D"
that this problem happens. The o/d light has gone off and I am going to
pull the codes from it this weekend. Just wanted to know what i was up
against.

Are you sure it's not the kickdown cable? Mine was way too lose, you should
be able to see about 1mm of the ferrule on the wire just out of the casing
at the adjustment bracket, under full throttle (with the motor off). My OD
light is out too, can't get at it. It's probably a globe or diode blown.
