Default Third brake light replacement on a toyota 2009 avalon??

How do you replace the third brake light or get access to replace bulbs?

Have you looked underneath the brake light from inside the trunk?

If it's the third replacement, then you should know by now. ;-)

I'm not sure what the Avalon is (I don't think we have that model here, at
least not by that name), but down here in New Zealand the old Toyota
Starlet models are notoriously bad at going through brake light bulbs
thanks to a leaky design of the hatchback boot / trunk which causes
shorting. I know a few people who have had them (a couple still do), and
they're forever replacing the bulbs.

Most bulbs these days are replaced via access in the trunk / boot space.
Older cars sometimes need the plastic lens covers removed instead (usually
via screws and/or a clip).

Or, perhaps, read the manual?

Most Toyota 3rd brake lights use one of three methods to replace the
bulbs: you go into the trunk and the fixture is there, or there are
screws to remove the housing, there are two buttons on the side of the 3rd
light, you press in on the center and pop the button out and lift the
housing up to reveal the bulbs, or it is held in with a piece of steel
like a spring clip, and you pry it up to gain access. A quick look at the
housing should tell you what kind you have.
