vehicle with a gently curved-slope soft front end
- like the Prius or the Focus -
are less likely to kill or seriously injure
a pedestrian in a vehicle-pedestrian collision
than a vehicle with a large hard flat front end
- like a Hummer H2.

The EU established pedestrian accident standards and rate cars for
bumper, hood, and quarter panels effects on a pedestrian. Their
standards turn broken legs into bruses and broken skulls into bad
bumps. The ZVW30 Prius is the first designed to this standard and it
received excellent marks.
