Hybrids could be BANNED along with petrol and diesel cars in 2040 as part of new government efforts to reduce air pollution levels The 'Road to Zero' policy is expected to outlaw the sale of hybrid cars that can't cover 50 miles using only electric power in 2040 Plans are an extension of DEFRA's Clean Growth Strategy announced last July that proposed a restrictions on new petrol and diesel cars in the same year The Committee for Climate Change said in January that more plans were needed if UK Government was serious about hitting air pollution targets Hybrid cars - like Toyota's Prius - could be banned from sale in 2040 along with traditional petrol and diesel cars, leaked reports claim.
