Default Derek Kraus Claims Top-Five in Daytona Debut

“Coming into this race, I didn’t really have a lot any drafting experience at all, so we learned a lot in practice and in the race, we kind of just bided our time,” said Kraus. “In the beginning, we had a few wheel weights fall off. We pulled in, got a lap down and then we got our lap back and just slowly just stayed in the back and raced with Ross for a bit. We followed him and then in the end we went.” Derek Kraus Defending race-winner, Austin Hill led twice in the race for a total of 11 laps and was in control of the race with the lead pack throughout much of the 106-lap race. A late-race caution placed Hill in the outside lane ultimately ending his bid for the win. “It was a fun race,” said Hill. “I felt like we had a truck that could win, we just couldn’t get clear enough. The 98 (Grant Enfinger) was really strong all night. He could side draft really good. His truck was really stable. I felt like a lot of the changes that were made in the offseason for the superspeedway side made the trucks move around a little more, so it made the race a little better. You could really get down on somebody’s door and suck them back. It just made the two-wide racing really good. It was a handful all night. I feel like all of us drivers were white-knuckling it.” Austin Hill The NGORTS is back in action on Friday, Feb. 21 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
