COONS LEADS TOYOTA USAC LABOR DAY WEEKEND RUN TORRANCE, Calif. (Sept. 5, 2011) – Jerry Coons Jr. placed second in Friday’s USAC National Midget Car Series event at the LaSalle Speedway, in LaSalle, Ill., to lead the Toyota contingent in the two national USAC races run over the Labor Day weekend.Coons, who qualified second, led three Toyotas into the top-five as Tracy Hines placed fourth and Kyle Larson was fifth. With the fifth-place finish, Larson closed to within 18 points of the series lead in his rookie campaign.Tanner Swanson made it four Toyota-powered cars in the top-10 with a seventh-place finish, while his brother, Kody, led the first two laps of the race, before eventually finishing 15th.In Silver Crown competition, Brian Tyler charged from 11th up to fourth to finish as the highest-placing Toyota on Sunday night at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds in DuQuoin, Ill. Right behind him was Coons in fifth place. Tanner Swanson also earned his second top-10 finish of the weekend with a 10th, while Kody Swanson placed 22nd after a strong fifth in qualifying.Coons slipped to second-place in the championship hunt, but is just six points out of the series lead. Tyler currently occupies the fourth position, while Tanner Swanson is seventh.Both the USAC Silver Crown and National Midget Car Series resume September 24 at the Eldora Speedway.Toyota Midget Car Series Results - Q/F
