Default What does the letter B on the Highlander Hybrid gear shift stand for.?
I have a 2006 hybrid Highlander. The gear shift is marked P, N, D, and B. Does anyone know what the B stands for?

its option b, cuz you dont have vtec for once LOL!

On all Toyota hybrids the B stands for engine braking and should be used when you are riding the brakes descending a long steep slope such as a mountain pass and the vehicle switches from regenerative to friction braking because the HV battery is as fully charged as the computer will allow it to be.































It functions similarly to downshifting a conventional automatic or manual transmission vehicle when you don't want to overheat the friction brakes and cause them to fade.
