There's price and there's what one pays. Go to kbb.com (Kelly Blue Book) and see what the dealer's cost is in your ZIP code. Start bargaining from that number. Now is good time to buy. You can customize the quote with the options you want, e.g. moon roof, 6 CD changer, etc. We have Toyota's and paid $300 over dealer cost for the Solara (which they don't make any more but may bring back in 2011 or so we have been told). for the Corolla LE we paid $99 over dealer cost by negotiating over the internet with the dealer. Besides the cost, look at financing before you go in. The dealer may give you a better rate or not, but you want to deal with as much info as you can get. Some credit unions offer a cut in the rate when you put 20% down. The 4 cylinder is peppy enough for most folks and gets better mileage. Test drive them both. Good luck.
