Perfect competition. You can't really consider them a monopoly because they don't own the automobile market. They never will. Oligopoly isn't even the right answer because that would suggest that they have some type of monopoly. Ford is still in the game as strong contender along with Honda. Sure they are the largest auto manufacturer now but this question didn't seem to come up in the multitude of decades that GM was wearing the crown- and GM was an oligopoly.
