Default 1988 Toyota Pickup Fuel Injection Problem (High Idle)?
Intermittent high idle (1800 to 2500 RPM). Always starts at normal idle but will immediately go to high idle the minute I touch the gas pedal. Goosing the pedal will cause it to return to normal idle. No binding that I can detect on throttle cable or in throttle body. Throttle ALWAYS closes fully when engine is off. No driveablity issues, always starts immediately in cold weather, runs well otherwise.

Try adjusting the accelerator cable where it meets the fuel injection, there should be a bolt that you can loosen. lower it until it seeems its about to turn off, then tighten it back up. Maybe the spring on the gas pedal is weak or it fell out try getting a new one

On my 89 I had to re-adjust the throttle positioner switch.Repair book will walk you through it

check for vacuum leaks and clean out your throttle body with carb clean and a tooth brush. Toyota recommends a "throttle body service" every 30k. worth a shot to start with the small things before you start looking at expensive parts to replace.
