If everything was working fine before this then the answer is found in your ignition.
The starter is working to crank it over but the ignition isnt firing to keep it going. Make sure all the cables are tight on the distributor and spark plugs.
A quick way to check if current is going through your ignition system is this: Grab a friend and have them crank the engine when you tell them. Pop the main cable going IN to the distributor. Take the connection you took off and hold it close (1/8in or something) to something metal (grounded). Have your friend crank it and sparks should arc to the metal (DO NOT HAVE YOUR FINGERS NEAR HERE. ITS GOING TO HURT!).
If there's a spark on the main cable then you can move to check the seperate cables coming OUT of the distributor for each cylinder. If there's no spark coming from these then the problem is at your distributor.
Hope this helps
