Have the car checked out before buying regardless of the maintenance records. If it checks out clear, go for it. That car has a very good engine. whether it's the 1.6 liter or 1.8 liter engine, those engines will easily pass 300,000 miles with normal maintenance. Make sure that the timing belt was changed at 120,000 miles. It is recommended to be replaced every 60,000 miles on that car. If you drive it and it breaks, no worries. Just get the belt changed and go. Corollas( as with most Toyotas) don't have to worry about causing engine damage if the timing belt breaks. Check out some of the high mileage Toyota websites. You'll see Corollas pushing half a million miles on original engines. That's how good they are.
