toyota 22re engine noisy lifters?

Default toyota 22re engine noisy lifters?
I own a 1994 toyoya pickup w/ a 22re engine.I noticed a "tick tick tick" sound while idling and riding down the road.I just flushed out the engine and changed the oil in hoped of this sound going away.The sound is still present.































will a noisy lifter cause any real problems (engine failure...etc...etc...)?































Is this anything to worrie about?

You guessed it, you have noisy lifters. (common problem for a 17 year old engine)















You can change the lifters, or put up with the noise. It won't cause engine failure, it just doesn't open the valve ALL of the way. But that's really not much of an issue, realistically speaking.

Try running "Sea Foam" or "Marvel's Mystery Oil." They work wonders.

I work at a local auto auction. On auction days if a dealer hears that noise. He will walk away unless he get it really cheap.

The 22r and 22re don't even have lifters. See the link in my references. Since there are no hydraulic lifters or lash adjusters this engine is known to tick and things like Seafoam or MMO won't do anything.

Sounds like you need a valve adjustment.
