Default Toyota Question - Having a rattling noise from truck?
My 2008 Tundra is making a bad rattling noise underneath the driver or pass. side. I am a dumbie when it comes to parts and auto work but it sounds like a rock rattling around in something. I hope its not serious like a catalytic converter. Please advise.

There are many possible answers but I will hit the high spots.































Loose heat shield















Rock between heat shield and other object















Emergency brake cable has something between it and the frame.















and the one you didn't want to hear, a damage catalytic converter.































Best bet is to climb under the truck and tap and shake things in the area.

Take it to the dealer for warranty work.















It sounds to me like it is a loose heat shield. Start the truck and crawl under it with a broom handle. Use the handle to push on parts until the rattle goes away. When it stops, you found the problem!

It could just be the engine shield that clips on underneath.I had this problem with my Celica, I took it back to the dealer and they sorted it out in 30 mins for me, free of charge as well.When ever I went over a bump in the road it went"clack clack clack".I hope you dont find its anything more serious.
