How long does a Toyota Tacoma last?

With good maintenance. Please answer in numbers (miles).

My 1986 Toyota SR5 X-Cab 2.4L EFI 5-speed 2WD Truck (before the Tacoma series) has 362,000 miles. Changed oil every 5,000 miles with Castrol GTX. Replaced Power Steering Unit twice, Alternator four times (because aftermarket re-built units only last 4-5 years), Starter once, Clutch three times, Shocks three times, Radiator once, and misc small parts. Everything works with 34 degree A/C from original system (two freon top offs) 120 degree heat (new heater core- my fault).

First repairs- new brake disc pads at 75,000, new shocks at 100,000, new clutch at 145,000 miles.

Always change oil on schedule with a quality oil and most any engine will make 150,000 miles.

You should be able to get 400,000 miles easily out of that truck. The highest that I've seen on the original engine in a Taco is 630,000 miles on a 1995 Tacoma SR5 Xtracab 4 cylinder w/ automatic transmission. Being an owner of two Previas- both with under 200,000 miles unfortunately, I have seen Previas with up to 820,000 miles on the original engines. this is important since the 2TZ-FE in the Previa is the same as the 2RZ-FE in the Tacomas- except the Previa's engine is coded a 2TZ-FE because it is mounted sideways. Newer Tacos have the 3RZ-FE which is just a more updated version of the 2RZ-FE. The Previa mileage is important because the Previa is easily 500-800 lbs. heavier than a Tacoma. That is important because with Tacoma being lighter, it should be easier on the engine- meaning it should last at least as long as a Previa's engine.
