Engine swap in FJ Cruiser?

I have a 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser and was thinking about throwing a GM 5.3L V8 in place of the stock 4.0L V6.

Would this be realistic, or would the wiring and electronic junk be too much hassle? Also, would it require a new transmission or anything?

thanks so far guys. It was just an idea. The reason I asked is because I know that the GM LM7 V8 vortec engines actually get better gas milage than the stock 4.0L in the FJ plus it would be more power. I guess i will stick with the V6 and maybe just throw a TRD supercharger on it

Not realistic- you would spend more money trying to get everything to work. Also, say buh-bye to the warranty as well.

Now, if this was a FJ40, or FJ60, you could put a 350 small block in. This is done frequently

why would you do a domestic engine? if you have the money do a tundra i force V8

Not a good idea. Not only will you need a new transmission, but probably the entire drivetrain would need to be replaced, because it's engineered for V6 torque, not V8 torque, and you could damage those components if you're doing a wide open throttle from a full stop. Plus you'd need to upgrade the front suspension to handle that weight. At least some 3" adjustable coilovers, which will run around $2000 installed.

Supercharger isn't a bad idea. Just keep in mind that it's about an 8 hour job for the shop to install. So take the $3500 price, add another $400 for the parts kit, and then 8 hours of shop labor. Not a cheap thrill.

I got a lot of bang for my buck out of getting new JBA headers, JBA catback exhaust, AFE/TRD cold air intake, and throttle body spacers.
