Default What is the part? what is it's function? and where should it be? the vehicle is a 1988 Toyota Camry
DX 4cyl? hi i bought this car for my younger brother it is his 1st car but when i brought it home i noticed this piece was carelessly and stupidly tied by a wire around the radiator hose pinching off the radiator hose idiot whoever did this so i got the wire and tied it to a more safer location by the air intake but where should it be/where was it originally? here is a picture http://s983.photobucket.com/albums/a...t=DSCN0794.jpg

Is an igniter. Is basically an ignition module for the ignition system. Usually they are mounted to a fender area, to be grounded to metal.

It's part of the ignition coil assembly and should be mounted on the fender somwhere.
