Default What does the xR stand for in the Toyota Matrix?
Ive always wondered what the xR stood for on my matrix. To date, ive thought it ment experimental rally, beacause if that was so then the xRS would stand for Experimental Rally Sport and that seems to make sense. But a part of me still does not believe this is really what it means. Anyone know for sure??

I asked this same question on a Ford forum last year, my son owns an XR 6.















It first cropped up in Canada on there Cougar's, around 67, it then made its way to England on there Capri, now its in Australia, extra race, extra rally, are 2 answers, but no one knew for sure.















General consensus was that it denotes motors with higher than standard output.
