How can i make 22RE engine stronger?

I got an 85 4runner with 22re, standard, but lacks a bit of horsepower(2.4 liter i know). Aside from headers and exhaust what else can i do to give it that extra pull aside from dropping in a chevy 350?

geared to 4.88

Snorkel with TRD air filter

4 inch marlin lift

Wanna keep it toyota oriented, TRD or toyota specialty companys. or any advice helpful

cheapest thing to do would be to put a chip in it you can get one cheap off of craigslist.com

supercharge it for that down low... wait had to catch myself there, toyotas dont make down low power..turbo it for speed.

you can raise the engine pressure

and like lan said

get a chip that change the software of you car

and you will get a a few more horsepower and torque

you can also lighten you car

like use carbon fiber if you can find the parts

Want some boost in power? Consider finding a 22RTE. That's essentially your engine built up with a turbo from the factory. Toyota actually offered it as an option on the 1986 and 1987 4 Runners. They are somewhat rare here in the States due to age and limited quantity when they were released but they are out there and a JDM engine importer can probably get you one.
