car has 150k on it now, trying to see if its worth fixing.

Timing belt should be replaced every 60k miles. I assume it has been replaced at 120K, your next time to change is at 180K miles. It would be wise to have someone check it for you to see if there are missing teeth or cracks. Cost to replace just the timing belt it shouldn't be more than $200 for labor. Good luck.

$200 for just the belt but I would recommend that you do a full timing belt service. it can run around $500-550, but it will include changing your cam and crankcase seals, timing belt, accessory belts and water pump. Usually I'd say go the cheaper route but in this instance, it's actually cheaper to doit all at once than replace those items later.

when you say that the car has 150k are you talking klms or miles depending where you are located in aust at 150klms it is time to change the timing belt if you intend to replace the belt and keep the car go to your local toyota dealer and obtain a quote as they will use genuine parts i.e the timing belt genuine has a life of 150 thousand klms after market are cheaper but they only have 40 klms or 12 months warranty so in the long run if you intend to keep the corolla they use genuine but if you are thinking of selling soon they you could use non genuine parts as fitted by most mech shop's but to be honest you will find that there is not a huge diff in price as most toyota dealers has special.s on timing belt replacements i.e the total cost inc labour is around $450.00 to $500.00 dollars inc all parts i.e belt seals water pump and new fan belt'

Depends where you live and who replaces it, Toyota dealers will charge more...should be in the 300-500 range tho'.
