Be more specific - play in the steering-wheel or play in the rubber-wheel-that-your-car-has-four-of?
If this is a DIY job, you need 375ft/lbs of torque on the wheel hub and the spec says it's allowed 15 degrees of play. It's very likely you didn't torque it down enough, even with an impact wrench this is a LOT of force.
Also if your hubs are going bad, it may also be time to check the ball joints as these contribute to play as they age.
