Well, you will need a new gasket and new gear oil that meets the manufacturers specifications. Other than that, just opening it should cause you any trouble at all.

nothing but the floor the grease will run out and thats about it ... if theres nothing wrong with it why open it up and if theere is something wrong then it dont matter its bad ... nothing will fall out unless its broken
